THE COMPANY

Ford India was established in 1995 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Ford Motor Company, a global automotive industry leader. Since then, Ford has announced plans to invest more than $2 billion in India to expand its manufacturing facilities and sales and service networks to meet the rapidly rising demand in one of the world’s fastest-growing auto markets.

 

THE OFFERINGS

Ford India currently operates a modern, integrated manufacturing facility at Maraimalai Nagar, near Chennai, which produces the Ford Figo, Ford Fiesta, Ford Classic, Ford Endeavour and the most recently launched Ford EcoSport.

 

THE REACH

Ford India has more than 265 sales and service outlets in 142 cities and continues to grow aggressively.

 

FUTURE EXPANSION

Ford Motor Company recently announced plans to build an integrated manufacturing facility in Sanand in Gujarat. It will add almost 5,000 people to its current workforce of more than 11,500.

 

Ford has also expanded its PowerTrain facility in Chennai to further support its sales and export growth plans in India. With the expansion completed in July 2012, the engine plant’s annual production capacity has increased from 250,000 to 340,000 units per year.

 

AWARDS & ACCOLADES

Ford has earned multiple accolades in India, including the ‘Most Dependable SUV’ for the Endeavour in the JD Power Asia Pacific Vehicle Dependability Study 2011 and ‘Most Dependable Premium Compact’ for the Figo in 2013, and the Indian Car of The Year 2011 (ICOTY) award for the Figo.

 

CSR INITIATIVES

Since its inception, Ford India has been working across communities on projects such as road safety, education, and healthcare. Ford has also introduced its award-winning Driving Skills For Life (DSFL) programme, which has trained thousands of Indian drivers on safer, economic and eco-friendly driving practices. As part of its ‘Operation Better World’ project started in association with the Ford Fund in 2012, Ford India will focus on improving health, sanitation, education and skill building in communities around its facilities.
