THE STORY

The Starcom MediaVest Group (SMG) is one of the youngest, largest and most diversified media networks in the country. Globally, SMG is the largest single media agency network, as per RECMA 2010 & 201. In addition to communication strategy development through its two networks Starcom Worldwide and MediaVest Worldwide, the group offers solutions in the area of ‘any screen content’ LiquidThread.

 

SMG is part of the Publicis Groupe, which launched VivaKi to leverage the combined scale of the autonomous operations of Digitas, Razorfish, Starcom MediaVest Group and ZenithOptimedia to develop new services, tools and next generation digital platforms.

 

THE REACH

SMG calls itself the ‘Human Experience Company’ and has more than 140 ‘human experience strategists’ and activators across its four full service offices in India at Mumbai, Gurgaon, Bangalore and Chennai. It aims to grow clients’ businesses through uplifting, meaningful human experiences.

 

THE FUN

At SMG, the idea is to mix learning and fun. Weekly activities at its offices include simulation games like Beer Game, Optimization contests, theme-based learning days like “Mobile Day”, “Tardiis week” & movie screenings. The Mumbai office, called The Hive, itself makes for an engaging and unusual office environment, with cabins in the shape of a train and a railway station theme. Overall, the endeavour is to create an enriching human experience for all employees.

Q] How does the road ahead look like? What are the new frontiers the agency is looking at?

The agency has been growing @ 25% over last year and we are confident about sustaining this growth rate through brilliant basics, Content, Digital, Analytics and Research & Insights. The agency has set up a Center of Excellence for Analytics out of India that will service SMG clients across the globe. The LiquidThread practice delivered some ground-breaking work on existing clients and won awards at the EMVIES and Goafest. We will continue to invest in our capabilities on the content side to deliver meaningful, uplifting human experiences for consumers of our clients’ brands. The focus on Digital continues and the team will be beefed up for a continued growth far higher than the industry rate.
